There’s a new saying: “Gay-er than Carnival on Gozo”.
In the middle of the Mediterranean, on one of the smallest islands in one of the smallest towns on a Sunday afternoon in February, the Gozitan’s get their Gay on.
Truly, you have never seen anything like it. Quite frankly, it puts the Sydney Mardi Gras to shame. These people do all this camping about in DAYLIGHT.
Carnival (or Carne-val as it was originally known) is a week-long celebration in the lead up to Lent. All the big-time catholic countries get their party gear on for a week of wild, loud, fluro fun. We have never seen so much flair and workmanship put into these costumes!
The most priceless thing about all of this was the facial expressions!! The women looked as though they were having to perform the most menial task in all of the world!
Our love for Gozo just got stronger.
