Such an incredible time we have had in Crete – these photo’s only touch the surface of the amazing beauty that this island holds. Since we arrived in the Venetian port town of Chania we have been nothing short of charmed. The old town there is just delightful – so much so we were drawn to re-instigate our joint watercolouring. We also met Stelios there – our vegan chef come buddha god father who has been such a part of our Cretan joys that he will get a blog post all to himself once Dara teaches me how to edit the video.
We have been constantly expressing our sheer happiness on this isle – everything from the breathtaking sea views which greet you almost everywhere, the stunning mountain ranges and fertile country as you cross the island.
I know Greece is having a rough time yet Crete screams abundance. Food is everywhere, it’s alive, it’s plentiful and it’s delicious. We feast on fresh olives, olive oil, tomatoes, oranges, lemons, thick creamy no apologies yogurt, fresh baked bread, local cheeses and when we get thirsty we have a Fix (the local beer!). And in the words of our sista Sophia, we have eaten “the wild greens which are potent and pregnant with myth”. More on these when we post our Stelious blog.
Everywhere we have stayed our hosts have been welcoming, caring, accommodating and generous. We feel truly spoilt here. It’s fantastic. Yassous!
